Croxteth was hit with a catastrophic train crash yesterday resulting in fifty people dead and 75 injured.

Screams from victims were heard as emergency services were put the ultimate test of juggling multiple tragedies.

But there was no need to panic! It was all set up as a mock for an emergency services training session which cost a huge six-digit sum.

Onto sport and both Everton FC and Liverpool FC triumphed this week as they both made a successful start on their European campaigns.

Everton FC beat German side Wolfsburg 4-1 and Liverpool FC managed to defeat Belgium team Ludogorets with Steven Gerrard's penalty goal.

And finally, extremely generous and kind ECHO readers clubbed together this week to raise a fantastic sum of money for a great cause.

The funds were raised in just 24 hours for little Amber Travers from Croxteth, who lost four of her limbs to meningitis and was desperate for a new set of prosthetic legs.

Local businessman Chris Hegarty pledged another £6,000, doubling her funds meaning that her mum Vicky can now consider getting the six-year-old some running blades too!
