Happy fisherman Zaini with his brand new boat engine.

MIRI: For Zaini Kassim, a boat engine is so much more than just a machine – it is really a lifeline for his family.

The fisherman from Jepak in Bintulu could not contain his delight upon receiving one recently, made possible through the initiative by the state PAS under its ‘Untukmu Sarawak’ project.

“All this while, I have been rowing my boat to sea. The machine will help solve my problems; it would surely be much easier for me to fish from now on.

“Also it will help me gain more income to support my family,” he said, thanking the programme for their contribution.

According to Untukmu Sarawak project manager for Bintulu and Central Region, Fiderus Husaini, such privilege is meant to benefit he people, especially the fishermen.

“We will continue the mission to ensure that the needy would all get their share,” he assured, adding that the assistance to Zaini and other eligible recipients was channelled via the ‘I-Care Community’ service under the project’s second planning from this month to December.

Fiderus said the service would also benefit small-time entrepreneurs.
