Now that the weather has turned warm and things have begun to bloom, it's time to get out in the garden. OK, an expert would probably tell you that it was time to get out in the garden a couple of weeks ago, but we won't judge you for being a little behind. The best place to get your transplants to give your garden a kick in the pants? The Peterson Garden Project Edible Plant Sale, starting tomorrow.

Now in its sixth year, the PGP Edible Plant Sale is one of the best ways to get everything you need for your garden in one place, and to give money to a good cause at the same time. The Peterson Garden Project supports community gardens throughout the city, but also works on food and gardening education programs.

Montalbano Farms grows the plants for the sale, which include many varieties of heirloom tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, herbs and much more. Last year, we snagged heirloom pink celery (which was the perfect crunchy addition to summer salads), lettuce, kale, tons of herbs and a whole box of Green Zebra tomatoes.

The plant sale is extra exciting this year, because it's being held in the Broadway Bank Building at 5948 N. Broadway St. It's gorgeous, but rarely seen by the public, so this is a unique chance to see inside this historic structure.

Our suggestion is to show up early. They've got a ton of plants, and there will be seedlings available all day long, but if you want the largest selection, get there at 10 a.m. when the sale starts.

Happy gardening!
