Men’s Soccer falls 3-2 to LeTourneau

LONGVIEW, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to LeTourneau University Friday night in Longview. The loss drops the Cru to 5-6-2 on the season and 2-2-2 in American Southwest Conference play while the
Yellow Jackets improved to 4-10-1 overall and 2-4-1 in conference action.
 
LeTourneau's Adam Schultz gave the YellowJackets an early 2-0 lead with two goals early in the first half. Logan Keeler responded for the Cru in the 38th minute, cutting the YellowJackets' lead to 2-1 at the half. Nathaniel Fagnant scored the equalizer in the 60th minute before Mario Lopez struck for the YellowJackets, giving LeTourneau a 3-2 win.
 
Fagnant led the Cru with one goal and one assist. He also took a team-high five shots, followed by Colby Case with four. UMHB totaled 19 shots in the contest and limited the YellowJackets to 11. Javier Zaragoza started the game for the Cru in the goal playing just under 17 minutes before Blake Lander came in. Lander allowed two goals and made four saves in the contest, while Zaragoza also allowed a goal.
 
UMHB returns to action tomorrow in a 6 p.m. match at the University of Texas at Tyler. The Cru returns home next weekend, opening with a 3 p.m. match against University of the Ozarks at 1 p.m. in Belton.
