Calgary home transformed into Tim Hortons for a day

CALGARY – Residents in a southwest Calgary neighbourhood woke up on Tuesday living next door to a Tim Hortons location that wasn’t there when they went to bed.

The Canadian coffee shop surprised Oakridge residents by transforming a home located along Oakfern Way S.W. into a pop-up location.

The move was part of the company’s ‘Tims Next Door’ recruitment campaign – launched in hopes of filling 280 positions in Calgary and 1,800 across Alberta.

“Right now, labour issues are huge in Alberta,” explained Doug Gunn, Tim Hortons Director of Marketing in Western Canada. “What we really wanted to do is look at a priority market, and Calgary is a priority market.”

Once officials transformed the house, they served coffee and dropped off gifts to area residents.

The temporary Tim Hortons was located at 303 Oakfern Way S.W. It was open from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m on Tuesday.
