Shoreham, N.Y. - (9/22/2014) – The participants of the Dowling College September Shootout took to the tees on the second day of competition at Tall Grass Golf Club with plenty to be decided as the top four teams stood separated by just four strokes with three other foursomes holding ground six strokes behind. But only Le Moyne College came in with a second sub-300 score (295, +11) as the Dolphins emerged from the pack with a final score of 588 (293-295, +20). Junior Bryan Saxon (Califon, N.J.) led Chestnut Hill College to a seventh place finish (7th of 12) with his final score of 153 (70-83, +12) pacing the Griffins to 616 points (298-318, +58).

Dowling College junior Petter Lehmann  (Stockholm, Sweden) offered the tournament's best single-day score with his round of 68 (-3) leading all participants on the first day of competition. Nyack College senior Matthew Yun (Flushing, N.Y.) led all participants on the second day of competition with his 69 (-2), which was good enough to tie him with Lehmann for the shootout's best overall score; 141 (-1). Nevertheless, Le Moyne College placed three golfers among the top 12 scorers to take home the team title.

Saxon's first day 70 (-1) tied him for second place, but like many others he fell off his day-one pace to score a second-round 83 (+12) and finish tied for 20th (70-83, 153, +11). Freshman Sam Riemer (Canton, Mass.) tied for 31st with his two-day total of 155 (77-78, +13). Senior Blaise Straka Jr. (Croydon, Pa.) finished just behind that crowd with his 157 (80-77, +15) while juniors Matthew Balcer (Bensalem, Pa.) and Cody Bloom (San Diego, Calif.) finished back-to-back, tied for 37th (78-80, 158, +16) and 40th (73-86, 159, +17), respectively.

The golf team plays next in the Goldey-Beacom College Invitational, which is scheduled for Monday, October 6, at the Delaware's Newark Country Club.
