Sherri Shepherd wants 'nothing to do' with unborn surrogate baby as reports emerge she used an egg donor to conceive

She had been excitedly anticipating the arrival of a baby carried by a surrogate - due in just a few weeks.

But following the acrimonious breakdown of her marriage to Lamar Sally, reports have emerged that Sherri Shepherd no longer wants anything to do with the unborn child.

And according to TMZ, the 47 year-old has no genetic connection to the infant who was conceived through IVF with an egg donor and her estranged husband's sperm.

Sources told the website on Saturday that she believes her TV writer ex defrauded her into having a child so he could get child support - knowing full well he was planning to file for divorce.

The pair first tried IVF with her own eggs but when that failed they opted to use donor egg with Lamar's sperm and a surrogate to carry the pregnancy, the source added.

But now, according to TMZ, the former The View host does not want to be considered a parent because she does not want to take financially responsibility.

And the website reports she allegedly wants a judge to rule she has no parental rights for the baby due at the end of the month.

Two weeks ago Lamar tried to get their whole divorce case sealed in court to prevent his wife of three years talking publicly about the marriage breakdown.

A judge said Sherri can chat about her divorce as much as she wants, but she can't reveal the name and whereabouts of the woman carrying the couple's child, TMZ reported.

Lamar is also worried that too many people at the hospital when their surrogate gives birth could hurt the baby.

Sherri opened up about her divorce at the Samsung Hope For Children Gala in New York City last month, telling US Weekly that she will 'try not to make the same mistake' again now that she's moving on from her marriage.

'I say you can't beat yourself up,' she said.

She continued: 'When you know you've made the wrong choice in a guy you look, you do some introspective work, and you try not to make the same mistake.'

She added: 'If you do, get back up, dust your feet off, and start walking and moving forward.'

The star filed for divorce on May 2 and initially asked for full legal and physical custody of her yet-to-be-born baby in the proceedings.

Yet in recent weeks she has had a change of heart.

Despite her personal problems, she was all smiles as she stepped up to give a speech at the Samsung event, looking fabulous in a black and gold sparkly number and black platform heels.

Giving a little advice for others who may be going through a split, she said: 'Have really good friends around you, so you have a soft landing place.'

Sherri also said that her loved ones keep her in check on social media, saying: 'I have a lot of really wonderful friends [who] say "erase that!"'

She explained: 'When the dust settles, you figure out what went wrong—but as long as you're alive and you can breathe, you [can] get up and keep going.

'For me, my child can't afford to see Mommy having a nervous breakdown. It's not in the cards.'

Last month, Lamar expressed his anger that Shepherd may miss the birth of their unborn baby.

She has arranged to perform at a gospel festival in Virginia on July 19 and Lamar has warned her he will be furious if she misses it.

The baby would be the star's second child; she is currently involved in a custody dispute with ex husband Jeff Tarpley over their nine-year-old son.

Lamar was also forced to deny a TMZ report in May that he asked his wife to sign a prenup, promising not to put on weight.

'I did not want her to sign an amendment to our prenup,' he told the site.

He added: 'We had a lot of love in our marriage. I still love her. To no one's fault, at some point, we started to view marriage differently.'

The site had claimed among other stipulations, Lamar requested that Shepherd sign an agreement saying: 'I enjoy having sex with my husband. I crave intimacy with him and want to be uninhibited and free in our lovemaking.'
