CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Nicholls State University women's volleyball team fell 3-0 to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Thursday night at the Dugan Wellness Center.
 
The Colonels (7-14, 3-4 SLC) fell behind early in the first set and were never able to match the Islanders (13-13, 6-3 SLC) who cruised to victory in straight sets.
 
A&M-Corpus Christi took the first set decisively with a score of 25-14. Nicholls fought back in the second set, but ultimately fell 25-17. The Islanders quelled any hopes of a comeback in the third set, pulling away for a 25-13 victory to seal the match.
 
Kaci Eaton led the Colonels with nine kills and four digs while Kali Schwartz added seven kills and four digs in the loss. Ainsley Marroccoli paced the squad with 18 assists.
 
Brianna Brink commanded the offensive attack for A&M-Corpus Christi with nine kills and also registered eight digs. Kate Klepetka contributed 20 digs, while Kristyn Nicholson added 30 assists for the Islanders.
 
The Colonels were without senior Libero Kalynn Egea in the match.
 
Nicholls will next travel to Houston Baptist for a Saturday matchup at 1 p.m.
 
The Colonels football team will also face the Huskies on Saturday at 7 p.m.  Tickets purchased for the football game will also be good for entrance into the volleyball match. Nicholls fans traveling to Houston can cheer on both squads with one ticket!
