After wild goose chase, cops nab 3 assailants

BANGALORE: The probe in the Fraser Town rape case seems to be finally back on track three days after Nasir Hyder, the prime accused, sent police on a wild goose chase.
A day after releasing two persons, who were arrested after Hyder named them, Pulakeshinagar police arrested three of his three partners in crime on Saturday morning.
Earlier, Hyder had allegedly dropped the names of his rivals to mislead investigation officials.
All the three arrested are close aides of Hyder and residents of kadugondanahalli in north Bangalore. Mohammed Ishaq Sawood, 27, has a battery shop, while Shoaib Sheik Mohammed, 27, owns a mobile shop. The third persons arrested, Mohammed Abdul Hafiz Razak, 32, works as a media manager in a private firm, police said.
"We are verifying their profession and other details. We will reveal other details on Sunday," police said.
Confirming the arrest, DCP-East Satish Kumar said they would subject the accused to different tests and take their finger prints. "They confessed to the crime and told us that they were with prime accused Nasir on the night of July 11. After having dinner at a hotel near Shivajinagar, the gang drove around and stopped on seeing the girl and her friend," he said.
They attacked the girl and her friend and took them in the four-wheeler by force. Hyder allegedly raped her in the moving car and again near a railway line.
Identification parade
Police are likely to hold an identification parade on Sunday after they could not do it on Saturday evening. "We have requested the girl and her friend to meet us at a secrete place and identify the miscreants. If she identifies them, we shall produce them in a court immediately and request the judge to remand them to police custody," police said.
