THOUGH SHE BE BUT LITTLE, SHE IS FIERCE.

On December 30th, 2013 Angel Tith went for a routine checkup and was told that she needed to get to INOVA Fairfax as soon as possible because her babies were coming early. Her husband JR rushed her the 207 miles there, and shortly after, they were blessed with beautiful twin girls, Aubrey Faith weighing 1.2 lbs, and Avery Grace at 1.3lbs at just 5 1/2 months gestation.  On New Years Day 2014, when the girls were just two days old, the doctor called Angel and JR in to the NICU and gave them the painful news that Aubrey would not make it through the night.  Little Aubrey was baptised and then drifted off to Heaven at 12:41pm while her mother cradled her in her arms. As devastating as this was, there was still a battle to be fought for little Avery, as her lungs were paper thin, her eyes were failing, and she had an open heart valve that would need to be fixed when she was strong enough.  For the first 8 months of Avery's life, she resided in the NICU at INOVA Fairfax.  She underwent heart surgery, g-tube insertion surgery, experimental eye treatments, had 3 months of ventilation, and suffered a brain bleed scare. In September, she was transported 6 hours away to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH where she could receive specialized treatment from the top doctors in the field.  Her little lungs were too scarred to breathe on her own, and the specialists there were the only ones capable of helping little Avery.  In the 4 months she has been at NCH, Avery has began breathing on her own and is showing signs of improvement that may allow her to come home in a short time.

During this time, Angel has stayed in Ohio with Avery to work with the medical staff and be active in her treatment and recovery. JR remains behind to work, take care of the house, and care for their other three children. In this entire year ordeal, Angel has been unable to work for obvious reasons, and the travel expenses incurred from JR and the kids having a 12 hour round trip to see their precious little Avery have added up. When Avery is released, she will require home care, oxygen, equipment, and various medications. Unfortunately, going home does not mean the Tith's lives will return to normal, as Angel will have to remain home to provide round the clock care for little Avery due to her many medical issues. Thanks for your support!
