Perhaps you have enjoyed the free issues of Book Page that we offer to our patrons each month.  Book Page is chock full of book reviews, author reviews, and timely articles.  If you have enjoyed that publication, take a look at our latest free offering, IndiePicksIndiePicks is a book review publication that covers independent publishers and authors. Part of the Patomi Media Group, IndiePicks was founded in 2017 by publisher Naomi Blackburn.

The Goal of the publication is to celebrate the uniqueness and diversity of the independent publishing houses and those who have chosen the indie route to bring their books to the market.

IndiePicks is a recommended-only resource, so they only publish reviews of quality work that their reviewers think would fit into public library collections and that are appropriate for a wide audience of readers. Their reviewers and columnists are all librarians.

Not only are we adding IndiePicks to the selection of review sources that we use when choosing the titles we add to our collection, but we are making copies of it available to you, the patrons, free of charge.  Make sure you stop in and pick up your copy, as they are limited.

As always, I am available to meet and talk with you.  This is your library and we want to hear what you think!

Christine Radzick

Some of you may remember Christine from when she worked at the library as an Adult Page. Well... she's back!

Christine was born and raised in Dracut and graduated from Dracut High School. She loves attending all of the town's annual events, like Old Home Day and the tree lighting.

After working almost nine years working in our Circulation Department, due to clashing schedules, Christine took a year off to take care of her kindergartener.  She's now back at the library.  This time, she's bringing her ten plus years of experience working in daycare centers, to help Miss Penny with Children's Programming.  As a Library Assistant, Christine also helps out in Reference and Young Adult services.

Christine lists her family as her greatest achievement. She has five beautiful children raging in age from six to nineteen. She got married this past August, bringing her family to a total of eight.

Christine is currently reading Darkness by Karen Robards. She loves suspense and thrillers, as well as authors like Stephen King and Dean Koontz. Most of the time, however, you will catch her reading children's books or YA titles. She tried to read to her children every day as they grew up.  She's happy to report that most of her children are now avid readers.

Make sure that you stop into either the Children's Room or the Reference Department to say hello to Christine and welcome her back!

Tuesday, December 12th
6:30 PM to 7:30 PM
In her program Holiday Music Then and Now, highly acclaimed pianist/composer Deborah Wyndham shares her own arrangements of various holiday pieces, both traditional and popular. With styles ranging from contemporary classical and jazz to ragtime, she plays holiday songs from both the far past and present, such as "Sleigh Ride," "Greensleeves" and more. She shares interesting facts about the song's beginning and composers.

Register today to reserve your spot in the audience.

This program is sponsored by the Friends of Dracut Library.

The Town of Dracut's Master Planning Committee is working on updating the Town's Master Plan.  In an effort to elicit community input, they have put together a community survey.  Those with interest access may complete the survey online.  Paper copies of the survey are available at both the Parker Library and the Council on Aging.

Please complete and return the survey by January 31, 2018. Completed paper surveys may be returned at the drop-boxes at Town Hall, the Library, or Council on Aging. Alternately, they may be mailed to Betsy Ware, Town Hall.  62 Arlington Street, Dracut, MA 01826.
