Reggie Bush defends Adrian Peterson, says he would discipline daughter harshly

Reggie Bush appeared on local radio and defended the idea of physical punishment.

While most of the NFL is trying to distance itself from Adrian Peterson, Reggie Bush is running face-first into the fray. The Lions running back went on local radio and said he would "harshly discipline" his 1-year-old daughter.

Bush said that the kind of punishment Peterson doled out to his 4-year-old son was consistent with what he received as a child, and several of Bush's friends. In trying to discipline his own daughter, who he said is a year old right now,  Bush had this to say.

"I definitely will try to - will obviously not leave bruises or anything like that on her. But I definitely will discipline her harshly depending on what the situation is."

When asked if that harsh discipline would include using a branch or "switch," Bush said he would.

"I would possibly consider it, depending on what she did."

Then he quickly backtracked away from the statement, saying he misspoke.

"I said spanking. Spanking is different than a branch or a stick."

Peterson was placed on the Vikings exempt list on Wednesday morning, and Nike announced they were suspending their relationship with the running back.
