Sharknado 2: The Second One

Sharknado 2: The Second One is coming to the Syfy Channel Wednesday, July 30, primed to take a bite out of the Big Apple. Critics knocked the first Sharknado movie, but it scored big in the ratings. The SyFy Channel is hoping that Sharknado 2: The Second One will also be a big success and devour its competition in the ratings when it premieres on Wednesday, July 30.

In Sharknado 2: The Second One, Mark McGrath returns as Martin Brody and Ian Ziering is also back, as Fin Shepard. They are pictured in the above photo, taken by Will Hart, courtesy of the SyFy Channel, The Asylum, and NBC. Tara Reid is also reprising her role as April.

This time out, a freak weather system brings its ravenous stowaways to a different destination: the Big Apple, New York City. The deadly sharks again wreak bloody havoc and the only ones who can save the city are Fin and April.

Residents of New York City, do not let the fact that sharks have never been transported via tornadoes and dropped over dry land before stop the fear from growing inside that there is always the first time for such improbable events to happen. Stock up on harpoon guns and shotguns before it is too late!

According to Thomas Vitale, Executive Vice President, Programming and Original Movies, Syfy, Sharknado “captured the attention of movie fans across the globe.” In the sequel, he says that sharks will be dropped down “onto New York’s iconic sites.”

Also, Vitale added, there will be a lot of lightning for the residents of New York City to contend with. Perhaps viewers will learn, when they tune in, if there is any truth in the saying Vitale came up with that “it’s a scientific fact that you’re more likely to be killed by lightning than by a shark.” Sharknado 2: The Second One will have both lightning and sharks, so if one does not prove to be fatal, the other one will.

Besides the cast members who somehow did not get eaten by sharks and are returning in Sharknado 2: The Second One, a few of the famous actors and actresses who will be making cameo appearances include Andy Dick as a policeman; Kelly Osbourne as an airline attendant; Judah Friedlander as Brian; Judd Hirsch as — of all things — a taxi cab driver; Mark McGrath as Fin’s brother-in-law; and Vivaca A Fox as Skye, a high school friend of Fin’s. With that sort of line-up, it seems as if the made-for-TV movie will have its tongue planted firmly in its cheek and own the campy nature of the budding Sharknado franchise.

The screenplay for Sharknado 2: The Second One was written by Thunder Levin, who also wrote the screenplay for the original Sharknado. The SyFy much-anticipated sequel is directed by Anthony C. Ferrante, who had a major hit on his hands when he directed Sharknado.

Sharknado 2: The Second One was filmed on location in New York City. Reportedly, no sharks were harmed in the making of the sequel. Humans…did not get off quite as luckily. Be sure to tune in to the SyFy Channel on Wednesday, July 30, to see if Fin and April can save New York City!
