Attempted armed robbery, Upper Coomera

Gold Coast police are investigating the attempted armed robbery of a man that occurred last night in Upper Coomera.

Initial investigations indicate that around 7.20pm a man was walking along a bush track between Reserve Road and Runway Drive when he was struck on the head with a wooden object, rendering him unconscious for a short period of time.

As he regained consciousness, he found a man attempting to remove his wallet from his pocket. He managed to stop the man, who fled on-foot.

He was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital with a minor injury to his head.

The man is described as being Caucasian in appearance and around 175cm tall, with a stocky build and dark, long, wavy hair. He was seen wearing dark jeans and a hooded jumper.

Investigations are continuing.
