Box Score Coming off a convincing win over Davis & Elkins on Thursday night, Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball looked to continue their G-MAC winning streak this afternoon.
Jennifer Walker-Crawford's third double-double of the season lead the way for KWC, as they improved to 11-6 overall and 7-1 in G-MAC play with a 68-57 win over Alderson-Broaddus (5-12, 3-5 G-MAC).
Neither team scored until the 18:22 mark in the first half, when Walker-Crawford hit a pair of free throws to make it 2-0 Panthers. AB would hit the first field goal of the game to make it 2-2 with 16:43 left in the half.
Walker-Crawford hit the first Panther field goal to make it 4-2 with 16:24 left in the half and AB responded to tie the game 15 seconds later. AB took their largest lead of the game at 7-4 after a three at the 15:20 mark.
KWC cut the lead to one on a
Haley Cook layup with 14:22 left, then neither team scored for three minutes. The Panthers took the lead again with 11:13 left in the half on a jumper from
Brittany Wells to make it 8-7.
They extended the lead to three on a layup from
Jordanne Gambill. With 9:22 left, AB got a three-play to tie the game at 10 before a Gambill layup gave them a 12-10 lead at the 8:51 mark and they would never trail again, closing the half on an 18-7 run to lead 30-17 at halftime.
KWC opened the second half on a 5-0 run to lead by 18 before AB made a run to cut the lead to 10. The Panthers would control the game the rest of the half, leading by as many as 21 with 3:33 left in the game.
KWC scored six points over the final three minutes of the game to close out a 68-57 win. Walker-Crawford finished with season highs in points (19) and rebounds (13) and Gambill finished with 15 points.
The Panthers were +14 in free throws (21-7) and outrebounded AB 43-33. Next up for KWC is a trip to University Heights, Ohio, for a matchup with Ursuline College next Saturday.
