Week in Review and Pioneers of the Week

Oct. 13-19

Football

Saturday's Homecoming football game was filled with record-breaking performances in Carroll's 76-7 mauling of Lawrence University.

The Pioneers reached 70 points for the fourth time in program history, with Saturday's total topping them all. Carroll's 69-point margin of victory is fourth-best in program history behind its wins over Northwestern College and Great Lakes Navy by scores of 74-0 and 73-0, both in 1925 and a 70-0 victory over North Park University in 1976.

Carroll scored 11 touchdowns on the day, with a school record eight on the ground (previous mark was 6). The Pioneers also scored on a punt return, an interception and a pass. Lamont Williams scored three of the eight rushing touchdowns (50 yards, 55 yards and 70 yards) to pass Bryce Crocker's all-time rushing touchdown record of 48. The three TD's pushed Williams' career total to 50 at just the midway point of the season. The team's 436 yards rushing also set a new record for rushing yards in a game, topping the old mark of 418.

The Pioneers improved to 6-0 on the season and are off to the program's best start to a since 1936. The 1936 team won all seven of its games that campaign.

Pellett lost to Shirlene Luk from Grinnell College in the final (6-2, 6-4) while Patzin lost in three sets to Kazia Koroma from Cornell College (3-6, 6-1, 6-0).

Women's Soccer
