Bank Islam extends assistance to flood-affected customers

KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd has launched the Prihatin Programme to provide assistance to all its flood-affected customers.

Under the programme, Bank Islam will waive any charges imposed on applications for replacement Bank Islam debit card and passbook. 

A moratorium of up to six months for monthly instalment payments on Bank Islam financing products, including Personal Financing-i. Vehicle Financing-i and Home Financing-i, will be offered to customers affected by the flood. 

There will also be  waiver on compensation fee (Ta'widh) imposed on customer accounts during the moratorium period.

"The wellbeing of the communities has always been one of our main priorities, hence, we hope that this programme will help to relieve their anxieties over financial commitments they have during this difficult period," said Bank Islam CEO Khairul Kamarudin.

As a precautionary measure to safeguard its customers' accounts and business oeprations, Bank Islam will temporarity suspend a number of non-critical banking services at its support branches that have been involved in the flood-recovery action. 

The suspended services include opening of new account, new request for Internet banking services and amendement to customer Information File.
