Hero Sprint Speed

Just a minor suggestion: Instead of the class upgrades affecting move/sprint speed, and resulting in these strange looking Olympic runners booking it across the map, the bonus should be changed to only affect when you're exhausted.

This will mean that when sprinting you will not move across the map faster than a demi-god, but you will still receive some benefit: levelling up your class will make exhaustion less penalizing. It's more realistic, and more balanced.

You know, my first impulse was to snark something along the lines of "maybe in the Special Olympics.

Then I hit Google and find out that the RO2 guys wouldn't even be close to competitive in that.

you lost me as soon as the over-exaggerations started. and that was the first line of text. why can't anyone just complain realistically? why is it always gross over-exaggeration, to make things sound worse than they are? how can i take the post serious?
so i have an eight percent bonus on movement speed and stamina in my hero classes. you know what? i don't even notice the difference, when i use a class that hasn't progressed past the first level.
now i was never in favor of the stupid bonus' perks and unlocks, but lets get real and not call guys who have them gods.

Wow, I didn't even know heroes had a faster sprint speed. And I'm a hero in almost everything!

You need google to know how fast Olympic runners are, you make me snark.
Surely you don't think there's a significant overlap between computer game fans and track & field fans. Can you list the average finalist's average speed for short distance sprints in the Special Olympics? (the answer: it's about 40% faster than the RO2 sprint speed. Clearly our guys just aren't "Special" enough)

Remove iron sight zoom in the ini. file and then, let's play Classic

Yea, except a target at 50m looks like he's at 300m, so engaging anything beyond that becomes ridiculously difficult.

As much as "zoom" is indeed unrealistic, it is one of the features that helps with proper engagement distances. And even in Realism, targets at 200m+ are still smaller than they should be. Technically there should be more "zoom".

ArmA 2 does a good job with the zoom level stuff. But all this is totally irrelevant to this topic.

Hero Sprint Speed in "realism" feels like a nitrous oxide injection

That unfair Character Bonus (+ unrealistic weapon upgrades and enemy weapon loadouts, + zoom) is the reason why i don

It's a game, I don't take care if 50m looks like 200 or 300 or whatever, what I mean it's in real life, everybody can see at the same range everytime. Or, in game one guys in iron sight can see farther than a man not in iron sight, it's unfair. I know it's not the topic of this thread, sorry again, but if one man can see me, in real life I can see him too, this not the case in game (In realism more than classic, of course)

The sprint speed of the Hero solider is not alot more than your regular soldier, something like +8%, which in-game leads to reaching a specific area around a second or so before the regular guy, over a "large" distance (Before the stamina is depleted). Short distances, they seem pretty much the same and the time taken to reach a point is almost the same as well.

Over-exageration shouldn't be used simply because you don't agree with something.

+8% bonus speed is huge. It may seem like a small number, and it may make little difference in terms of the time to location, but it causes strange animation problems (not literally problems but it looks visually retarded) and additionally this bonus stacks with the "stamina resistance", which ultimately leads to a large time difference between getting to objectives.

Well said. +1 agree.

The average running speed is 12 km/h (source)

That equals 3.3 m/sec

Added 8% makes it 3.6 m/sec

Over a 100 meter distance:
Standard: 30.3 seconds
With 8% bonus: 27.8 seconds

Someone with 8% bonus will be 2.5 seconds faster over a distance of 100 meter.

If we sprint from cover A to cover B, then we will maybe cover a distance of 10 meters. The gain for someone with 8% bonus will be 0.25 seconds
