DENVER - July 6, 2015 - PRLog -- Steven Hager has spent a lifetime researching the hidden connection between cannabis use and the rise of religion across the world. After creating the Cannabis Cup and other marijuana-friendly ceremonies, he founded the Pot Illuminati, a dogma-free form of spirituality with only one rule: Don't hurt anybody.

On July 4th, 2015, Hager published Let Your Mind Be Free, a compilation of songs for use in ceremony and ritual. The book and songs will debut at the Abakus Munchie Cup at Green Labs in Denver from July 24-26.

The songbook includes an introduction about the first pyschedelic rock band in Illinois, The Finchley Boys, who remain relatively unknown today, but had a huge impact in the Midwest from 1967 to 1970.

Eighteen songs are included in the book and they are presented in chronological order beginning with Nottamun Town, which is believed to have originated in the 1500's in England. Many songs are based on Protestant hymns, while the more contemporay songs are parodies of modern anthems for the psychedelic revolution. For example, Morning Dew, a song made famous by the Grateful Dead, becomes Morning Dabs.

"Music, math and marijuana have always been the keys to spirituality," says Hager, "and there's tremendous resonance when you put cannabis back into ritual where it resided before the history of the plant was intentionally obscured for centuries. It's not just the world's greatest medicine for the body, but also can be a wonderful medicine for the soul."
