@UAMHoops Schedule /// @UAMWBB ScheduleMONTICELLO — The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's and women's basketball programs have released their schedules for the upcoming 2015-16 season.
Both teams get started in early November with exhibitions games. The Weevils host Champion Baptist on Tuesday, November 3 following a UAM home volleyball match. The men and women are in action on Monday, November 9 against NCAA Division I teams. The Blossoms travel to Waco, Texas to face off against Baylor, while the men head to south Louisiana to take on Nicholls State.
The regular seasons consists of 28 games for the men's team and 26 games for the women's team. With new Great American Conference member Oklahoma Baptist in the mix, the conference schedule features 22 games for each team, all women's/men's double headers played on Thursdays and Saturdays. There are also two Monday double-headers this year to accommodate for the new team.
The Blossoms are right at 50 percent home games for the season, including a pair of non-conference games. In addition to those two and the 22 GAC games, the Blossoms are also participating the St. Mary's Thanksgiving Classic in San Antonio against host St. Mary's and Angelo State.
The Weevils have 14 games scheduled inside Steelman Field House, including its exhibition opener against Champion Baptist and two non-conference games. The team gets the luxury of an additional two regular season games with its participation in an exempt regional crossover tournament to be played at Southwest Baptist in mid-November.
The 2016 GAC Championship Tournament is scheduled for March 3-6 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The top eight teams qualify for the tournament, with the winner earning an automatic bid to the NCAA regional tournament.
