BOWIE, MD (April 20,2017) - The Virginia State University women's tennis team finished their season with a 14-4 overall record under the 2017 CIAA Women's Tennis Coach of the Year,
Linda Person. Person is in her 19
th year as the helm of the program.
Coach Person has been named CIAA Women's Tennis Coach of the Year in 2004, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2015 and now 2017. She not only ensures that her team works hard on the courts, but in the classrooms as well.
On the court, the Trojans went into the 2017 CIAA Women's Tennis Championship seeded third among the other 10 institutions. In the Northern division the Trojans are seeded in the number two spot wrapping up with a 6-1 divisional record. VSU will advance to the next round after defeating Virginia Union with a score of 5-1 in the opening round on April 20. The Trojans will next face the Lady Bears of Shaw University on April 21
st.
