Beloved Kimberly Bakery to Return
As reported by The Post-Crescent: Do you remember the triple chocolate doughnuts from Van Thull’s Bakery? They’re coming back. Plans are in the works to revive the bakery in Kimberly this spring under the wing of Mader’s Catering at 114 S. John St., at the corner of Kimberly Avenue. Dennis Mader, owner of the catering company with wife Kathleen, had always hoped the bakery would get back on its feet one day. He’d worked at Van Thull’s before starting his own business nearly 20 years ago. “I knew the family, the products and the quality. I appreciated how Bob Van Thull taught me,” he said. “I told the family that if they’d ever want to reopen, I wanted to help them.” Mader is now doing just that. He’s creating space for Bob’s son, Don Van Thull, to restart the business from scratch. Continue reading
