"Just Got Paid" Singer Johnny Kemp Has Passed Away

The Bahamas Weekly is reporting that Bahamian music legend, Johnny Kemp, has passed away. He was 56.

The mastermind behind the 1988 hit "Just Got Paid" passed away on Apr. 16 after an accident on the Tom Joyner's cruise. Kemp began singing in Bahamas nightclubs at 13 and eventually moved to New York, where he released his self-titled debut album in 1986. Salaam Remi confirmed the news of his passing on Instagram earlier today, as well:
