My BIG NEWS is, I am a contributor to a fabulous book called
The Dharma of Dogs (Sounds True). The author/editor Tami Simon (Founder of Sounds True) has aligned an amazing group of people to share their life lessons. Some of the contributors are: Eckhart Tolle, Alice Walker, Lama Surya Das, Geneen Roth, Joan Halifax, Chris Grosso, Mark Nepo, Adyashanti, Pam Houston, Tsem Tulku Rinpoche, Sera Beak, Reggie Ray, Joan Ranquet, Beryl Bender Birch, Bonnie Myotai Treace, angel Kyodo Williams, and more.
Of course, this book is for anyone who loves dogs-the essays offer humor, solace, inspiration, and insight into the life lessons our dogs make available to us. While it is not every day that I get to share being in a book with Eckert Tolle AND Alice Walker, it is much more profound for me. My story is a journey with Isabella called "Sometimes the best teacher is the one that made you cuss the most."
I will be sharing a little about the end of her life in my next newsletter story but this story in the book The Dharma of Dogs is her true beginning. And it wasn't pretty. She went from a feral dog to the best greeter on the planet (and stealing sandwiches out of student's bags.) The story is all about how we did that.
When I was writing the story, I had a bizarre notion that she wouldn't see the publishing of it. When she crossed at the end of March, that weird inkling was confirmed. I had hoped she'd get to come with me places and meet people because of her story. Well, many people will be introduced to her, and will get to know her even if she is no longer here in physical form.
As well,I would like to invite you to meet me at either of the two upcoming 'book signing' events this month - June 22nd and June 25th - see below. I have a 3-day workshop July 21-23 in Andover, MA. Come for 1 day or all 3!!
