On Dec. 11, 2015, supplemental funding of $2.5 million was awarded to continue the provision of services to individuals already enrolled in the project as well as 450 additional transitioning service members.

This supplemental award of $2 million will allow for the provision of reemployment and training services for 750 new participants, bringing the total number of participants to about 2,100, and bringing the total funds awarded for this project to $10,086,385.

Background: Supported by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014, Dislocated Worker Grants temporarily expand the service capacity of dislocated worker training and employment programs at the state and local levels by providing funding assistance in response to large, unexpected economic events that cause significant job losses. The grants generally provide resources to states and local workforce investment boards to re-employ laid-off workers quickly by offering training to increase occupational skills.
