Taceaux Loceaux, the longest running of New Orleans' new wave of food trucks, will finally have a little elbow room. Next spring, a Taceaux Loceaux restaurant will open in the the Lower Garden District.

"We're going from a truck, to a space that we could literally drive a truck into," said Taceaux Loceaux co-owner Alex del Castillo.

Del Castillo and his wife, Maribeth, have been looking for a brick-and-mortar location for three years.

"We're hard to please," he said. "We wanted to make sure it was a deal where we working for ourselves and not the landlord."

Del Castillo said the restaurant, on Celeste Street near Tchoupitoulas Street, will have a "Mexican beer garden" vibe.

"It feels like outdoor seating inside," Del Castillo said.

Taceaux Loceaux, which was one of NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune's top 5 food trucks, riffs on the basic taco with ingredients like barbecue brisket, Korean-style bulgogi chicken and chorizo-style tofu. The results are original, filling and delicious.

At the restaurant, Taceaux Loceaux will have a larger menu, including roasted chicken and goat from a wood-fired grill. The restaurant will continue to offer vegetarian and vegan dishes.

Del Castillo said they are still deciding if, once the restaurant opens, whether the truck will be used for more than catering events.

The new restaurant will have plenty of parking and a full bar.

"I'll be happy to sell margaritas," Del Castillo said.
