Rebels Criminal Motorcycle Gang member charged after drugs located during a search at a Bribie Island address

As part of ongoing enforcement action against criminal gangs and their networks, members from Task Force Maxima and Australian Customs and Border Protection executed a search warrant at Bribie Island address this morning, targeting the drug distribution networks of the Rebels Criminal Motorcycle Gang.

The raid resulted in the location of two purpose built rooms in the residence for the growing of hydroponic cannabis, a quantity of unlawful steroids, equipment for manufacturing and distributing steroids and Rebels CMG paraphernalia.

As a result, a 35-year-old Banksia Beach man and a participant of the Rebels Criminal Motorcycle Gang was arrested and charged with producing dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs and importing restricted items. A return to prison warrant was also issued against the man.

“Once again we have found members of a criminal motorcycle gang producing and distributing dangerous drugs. This gang in particular, the Rebels, have been very vocal in their claim that they are misunderstood group of motorcyclists,” said Detective Inspector Brendan Smith of Task Force Maxima.

“Today’s action has not only found a Rebel gang participant producing, importing and distributing illegal drugs, we have evidence showing other participants of the gang assisting in the building the purpose built grow rooms within the residence.

“The links between these gangs and illegal drug distribution is clearly evident, as is the link between illegal drugs and property crime. This is why we are targeting them and will continue to do so. Illegal drugs and other associated crimes impact on the lives of everyday Queenslanders.

“Taskforce Maxima is not going anywhere, the sooner these criminal gangs realise this and cease their offending behaviour, the better it will be for Queensland,” he said.
