Wounding, Edmonton

Police have charged a 33-year-old man with wounding after an incident at Edmonton early this morning.

Around 1.30am, police were called to a residence on the Bruce Highway where a man was reported to have stabbed a woman during a disturbance.

The 62-year-old woman received non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Cairns Base Hospital for treatment.

The man and woman are known to each other.

The 33-year old Portsmith man was charged with wounding and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.
