Police are currently at the scene of a multi-vehicle traffic crash on the Bruce Highway at Griffin.
The highway is currently closed in both directions just north of the Pine River Bridge.
Diversions via nearby exits are currently in place, however, motorists are being urged to avoid the area, delay travel or expect extensive delays.
The crash is also affecting traffic in northbound lanes of the Gateway Motorway.
Police recognise there will be extra traffic on the highway with the start of a long weekend and are asking motorists to be patient while they work to reopen lanes as quickly as possible.
