A 45-year-old bicyclist was killed after he was pinned under a city bus in Harlem on Sunday morning, cops said.
Pedro Santiago, 45, of East Harlem, was hit and trapped under the midsection of a double-length B15 bus as he rode his bike on W. 125th St. near Lenox Ave. at 1:30 a.m., cops said.
Cops said he was the first bicyclist fatally struck in 2014.
Emergency responders used air bags to lift the Fordham Plaza-bound bus. Santiago was then rushed to Harlem Hospital, where he died, cops said.
A witness, who only gave his name as Robert, 24, said EMTs performed CPR on Santiago after pulling him from the wreckage.
“He didn’t look good. He was crumpled up like a pretzel under the bus. Once they got him out, they started doing chest pumps right away,” Robert said.
Police said they do not expect to charge anyone in the accident.
