FRISCO, Texas – After becoming the third Colonel in program history to rush for 1,000 yards, Nicholls State University junior running back
Michael Henry has been named Second Team All-Southland as the league office revealed Tuesday its 2014 all-conference football awards.
A total of seven Colonels received recognition, with six earning honorable mention. Joining Henry were offensive linemen, junior
Chris Bordelon and senior
Rafe Plaisance, senior return specialist/wide receiver
Keenan Canty, senior linebacker
Davin Bovie and defensive backs, senior cornerback
Byron Cobb and sophomore safety
B.T. Sanders.
Henry, a native of Baton Rouge, finished his first full season as the Colonels' feature back with 1,005 yards rushing and six touchdowns. He ranked third in the Southland in yards per game with 91.4, which currently ranks 34

Two of Henry's blockers, Bordelon and Plaisance, were also recognized with honorable mention. Bordelon started all 12 games at left tackle and led the team in knockdowns. Plaisance started every game this season at left guard and allowed only one sack, which came in the Colonels' game at FBS Arkansas.
Canty, a transfer from the University of Colorado, earned honorable mention as an all-purpose player after leading the Colonels in all-purpose yards with 121.3 per game. As a receiver, Canty caught 26 passes for 253 yards with three touchdowns. On special teams, he had 1,085 kick return yards with a 19.7 average while fielding 11 punts for 152 yards and a touchdown. Canty earned FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week after returning a punt 83 yards for a score against Lamar.
Rounding out the honorable mention recipients were three Colonel defenders. Bovie was second in the Southland in tackles with 108, helped by his season-high 19 against Stephen F. Austin. Cobb was 28
