Become a CSMB Member

Becoming a CSMB member will give you an opportunity to participate in a strong scientific network across Canada. The CSMB community fosters interaction, communication and collaboration amongst discovery scientists, as well as prepare the next generation of researchers for academia, industry and the entrepreneurial enterprise.

CSMB promotes science and advocates science policies that benefit Canadian scientific community for advancement in molecular biosciences. On behalf of our Membership and the Canadian research venture, our advocacy efforts have been instrumental in guiding the federal government to increase funding for fundamental discovery research in Canada.

Through its award programs, the society acknowledges the research accomplishments of Canadian scientists, including four researcher awards and several travel awards.

We recognize the following:

  • CSMB New Investigator Award recognizes Early Career Investigator success
  • The Canadian Science Publishing Senior Investigator Award rewards outstanding achievement in research by a Canadian scientist
  • The Jeanne Manery Fisher Memorial Lectureship recognizes an outstanding Canadian woman scientist.
  • The CSMB Arthur Wynne Gold Medal is presented to an individual who has made significant contributions to the molecular biosciences in Canada over their career.
  • Travel awards and poster awards for graduate and postdoctoral trainees assist them in attending CSMB-sponsored meetings and reward their scientific efforts.

CSMB sponsors exciting theme-oriented meeting annually where members receive substantially reduced registration rates for the annual meeting.

CSMB supports educational events at universities across Canada, such as undergraduate and graduate research conferences, scientific symposia and career days, on request.
