The Bug v Earth - Boa: track premiere

This article is more than 9 years old

What happens when a merchant of drone metal and the master of heavy bass collide? Listen to this new collaboration here and tell us what you make of it

Here’s a snappy little track that’s sure to lurk far from the charts: music’s most uncompromising outsiders, Dylan Carlson of drone metal merchants Earth and Kevin Martin of Techno Animal, Ice, God, Razor X, King Midas Sound, and now the The Bug moniker, have joined forces for Boa, a track which winds and grinds with as much industrial menace as only two titans of heaviness could create.

While both artists have explored their respective genres for decades separately, they follow their recently released albums (Angels & Devils by the Bug and Primitive And Deadly by Earth) with this new collaboration - out for a Black Friday Release in the US on 28 November and on the 1 December worldwide. Originally envisioned as part of Martin’s most recent album, which included sonic collisions courtesy of Liz Harris (Grouper), copeland, Miss Red, Gonjasufi, Flowdan, Death Grips, Justin Broadrick (Godflesh/Jesu) and Warrior Queen, it became apparent quite early on that the signature sound of Carlson’s guitars may need more room to stretch, and thus Bug v Earth was born - a special 12” release of tracks which also features the song Cold.

Take a listen to Boa ahead of its release below and let us know what you make of it.
