Armed robbery, Belmont

 

Police are looking for two men following an armed robbery at a Belmont tavern early this morning.

At 12.50am, a sledge hammer was used to forcibly gain entry through the glass entry door of the Belmont Road business.

The men, one armed with a handgun, threatened two employees before leaving the scene with a sum of cash, and also a set of car keys from a male staff member.

The pair left the scene in a stolen green Ford Explorer with Queensland registration 844ROT.

No-one was physically injured.

One man is described as Caucasian with a slim build, 170cm tall, and was wearing a black tracksuit top, black tracksuit pants and black gloves.

The second man is described as Caucasian with a solid build, 185cm tall, and was wearing a black balaclava, a black hooded jumper, black pants, sandshoes, and dark coloured gloves.

Investigations are continuing.
