Chicago Police Commander Changes
The Chicago Police Department made some personnel changes throughout the city. As a result, Commander Duffin from the 20th district and Commander Waldera from the 24th District have been promoted to their new duties within the Chicago Police Department.  I want to thank both commanders for their outstanding work and service to our community. Under their leadership, we've seen significant drops in crime throughout our neighborhood.  Both have been great leaders, and have worked closely on violent crimes affecting us all. Commander Duffin is being promoted to the Area Central Detective Unit and Commander Waldera will be heading up the Chicago Police Department Narcotics Division.  I look forward to working with both of them in their new roles in the Chicago Police Department.

I would like to welcome Captain Cornelia Lott who is the acting 20th District Commander. She comes to us from the 18th District as their Executive Officer and second in command.  I would also like to welcome Captain Roberto Nieves who is the new acting 24th District Commander. He comes to us from the 12th District where he also served as the Executive Officer and second in command. I will be inviting both Commanders to the May 2nd Community Day, and we will be coordinating a community meeting with the new Commanders at the Broadway Armory the first week of June.
Clean and Green Thank You
I would like to thank the over 150 residents that came out to help clean up our neighborhood this weekend.  With your help we were able to clean up our parks, schools, beaches, business districts and residential areas by collecting over 200 bags of garbage.  It could not have been possible without everyone’s help. Please continue to keep an eye out throughout the summer so we can all work towards keeping the 48th ward the cleanest in the city. I would also like to thank Whole Foods for a great neighborhood event that brought out hundreds of neighbors.
