Every day of every month at GQ, we start your morning on Instagram with visual advice on What to Wear Today. But we want to go deeper. Give you the nuts and bolts of how to get the look into your wardrobe. Today we're walking you through how to pull off fall's slouchier pants.

Nothing modernizes your wardrobe like jeans and trousers that are cut in an of-the-moment silhouette. For whatever reason, it’s also the hardest thing to get people to change. Men clung to baggy, boot-cut jeans for years before they accepted the fact that a slimmer cut was the way to go. That said, we’re guessing you’re not one of those guys (if you are, um, Hi, welcome to GQ.com!) and you’ll listen to what we’re about to tell you with an open mind and, you know, wallet. While you don’t need to ditch every pair of slim jeans in your closet, it’s time to get on board with a new cut: The slightly slouchy, slightly cropped pant.

Part ‘50s greaser, part ‘90s skater, these pants are infinitely more comfortable than the tight AF cut you’ve been wearing for the last few years, and look even cooler. Rock them with ankle-baring sneakers and loafers now, and high-top sneakers or lace-up boots once the weather cools down. Your call on whether to go for a flat or pleated front, cuffed or tapered ankle. The important thing is that that you give everyone a break from staring at the outline of your thighs. Because, well, it's just time.
