The three-fingered salute used by Katniss and the other rebels in The Hunger Games have been adopted by pro-democracy activists in Thailand. And as a result, a movie chain in Bangkok has cancelled screenings of Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1.

Thailand's been under military rule since May, and protestors have started using the three-fingered salute as a sign of their dissent. The government has since banned the salute, and warned that using it would result in arrest. And on Wednesday, that's what happened to five students who displayed shirts reading "No coup" and performed the salute at an appearance by junta leader Prayuth Chan-ocha, who has named himself prime minister. The Nation reported that army officials said the five were taken to a military camp and detained for "attitude adjustment."
Activists say that screenings of the third Hunger Games movie were cancelled after the police learned that hundreds of students planned to protest at one of the theaters. The League of Liberal Thammasat for Democracy purchased 200 tickets and had planned to give them out for free to those who answered the question "How does the Capitol resemble Bangkok?" on Facebook. The showing of the film was to be at Bangkok's Scala theater, until screenings were canceled.
