Comedian Jimmy Carr writes new song for Robbie Williams and Kylie Minogue ahead of pair’s reunion
TV funnyman helped put together the track Disco Symphony for singing duo
EARLIER this year I delivered the shock news that ROBBIE WILLIAMS and KYLIE MINOGUE had reunited for another huge collaboration.
Now I have discovered the secret ingredient behind their duet — comedian JIMMY CARR.
In a most unlikely showbiz career switch, the 8 Out Of 10 Cats host has turned songwriter and helped put together the track Disco Symphony — working alongside Robbie and the star’s right-hand man GUY CHAMBERS.
A source close to the TV comic said: “It’s true, Jimmy co-wrote Disco Symphony with Robbie and Guy. As a huge music fan it was a bit of a dream come true for him and great fun.
“He contributed to the lyrics, and Robbie was really chuffed with the result.
“The song isn’t part of Rob’s current album campaign but he plans to get it out at some point soon.
“It’s all top secret at the moment.”
The last time Kylie and Robbie got together in 2000 they produced their classic hit Kids, which entered Top Tens around the globe.
The addition of Jimmy makes their new team-up all the more interesting.
Although Disco Symphony doesn’t feature on Robbie’s upcoming album, Heavy Entertainment Show, he has teased it for a 2017 release.

He said: “Me and Kylie have gotten together to do a song called Disco Symphony. It’s a big disco extravaganza.
“It’s not on this album that is coming out in the next few months.
“But I have a cunning plan and that song is placed in my back pocket ready to be deployed at the right time — and it will see the light next year.
“It’s a cracker and I get to sing with Kylie Minogue again.”
The song could even be a Christmas No1 waiting to happen.
Kylie is repackaging her festive collection for this coming December with fresh tracks.
She recently announced: “We’ve got some really, really good new additions to the Christmas album for this year.”
Robbie hasn’t had a Christmas smash hit since 2001’s Somethin’ Stupid — a duet with Hollywood superstar NICOLE KIDMAN.
Surprise collaborations are clearly Robbie’s thing.

But JESY NELSON hit back at their critics in inimitable style – by wearing a mini-dress with the words “Too provocative?” scrawled across the rear, above.
The girls sang No1 hit Shout Out To My Ex at the Radio 1 Teen Awards, top, after a surprise performance by NIALL HORAN.
Unfortunately for the former ONE DIRECTION star, who opened the show, his rendition of This Town was hit by technical problems and his audio cut out during the song.
Thankfully there was something to fill what would otherwise have been an awkward silence – the screams of thousands of near-hysterical teenage girls.

KINGS OF LEON drummer NATHAN FOLLOWILL has confirmed my exclusive that he and HARRY STYLES have matching tattoos, by getting it out on telly.
He flashed the half-heart on his chest during a US interview. I have dug out Harry’s identical ink, below, to show they fit together. Nathan said: “Remember the best friend necklaces that have the hearts? I have half a heart.”
His bandmates aren’t quite as impressed though, with brother JARED asking: “Are you serious? Oh wow”.
A sheepish Nathan admitted: “I have never been more embarrassed.”

TAYLOR SWIFT was back on stage on Saturday and made a strong statement about ex CALVIN HARRIS.
She performed the song she penned for him, This Is What You Came For, at the US Grand Prix weekend following their public fallout over the tune.
She was credited under a pseudonym on the collaboration as she hadn’t wanted the song to overshadow their relationship, but after they split the truth came out in a bitter Twitter-fuelled feud.
Taylor didn’t let that, or her split with TOM HIDDLESTON, dampen spirits as she sang for the 80,000-strong crowd in Austin, Texas.
She has been absent since wrapping up her 1989 World Tour in December. It feels like she never left.
Chain reaction to Gaga
THE CHAINSMOKERS have learned not to mess with LADY GAGA.
They had death threats from her fans after admitting not likingsong Perfect Illusion.
Speaking before my Facebook Live with the duo, ALEX PALL said: “I can’t even read my Twitter. Her fans are like bees to a nest. People care what we think now. We’ve got to harness it.
“It would be cooler to do good stuff and say positive things than feud with female icons.”
Luckily there’s been no fallout between The Chainsmokers and Closer collaborator HALSEY, after DREW TAGGART was targeted by a hacker who tweeted abuse to her from his account.
Alex said: “Halsey’s cool and she knows Drew is not a psychopath.”
Maybe you should stick to Snapchat, boys.

Elvis is out-selling her album Joanne by two to one, meaning she is set to enter the charts at just No3, her most disappointing result yet for a solo LP.
If Elvis does claim the top slot it will be his 13th No1 and he will overtake MADONNA as the solo star with the most UK chart-toppers, as my list on the left shows.
Mel's Olympic Tri
MELANIE C proved Sporty wasn’t just a nickname when she smashed it at this year’s London Triathlon.
Having beaten her personal best and placed first in her age group, Mel, right – whose full name is Melanie Chisholm – is setting her sights on qualifying for Team GB at the Olympics.
She said: “In the old days I actually wasn’t that sporty but now it’s the real deal.
“My dream is to have Team GB Chisholm on a hoodie that I wear and to compete. I follow the sport incredibly closely and this year has been my best season yet.
“I just need to push that little bit further. My ultimate dream is to qualify for the team and I’m going to go for it.
“My cycle and swim legs are where I can shave the time off. It’s definitely very doable.”
Her old SPICE GIRLS band mate GERI HORNER can design her a Union Jack costume for the occasion.
