Shooting incident, Tewantin

A 51-year-old man has died following a police-related shooting incident in Tewantin this afternoon.

Preliminary investigations indicate just after 2pm police responded to reports of a disturbance at an Outlook Drive residence.

Upon arrival, two male officers were confronted and threatened by an armed man before police discharged their firearms at the man.

The 51-year-old New South Wales man was declared deceased at the scene.

The Ethical Standards Command, on behalf of the State Coroner, have commenced an investigation into the incident which will be overview by the Crime and Corruption Commission.

There is no further information available at this stage.
