Gadget Lab Podcast: Privacy on the High Seas

This week: WhatsApp privacy changes, the sale of Instapaper to Pinterest, and we say so long to our good friend Joe.

This week’s show is the last one for WIRED executive editor (and sometimes-cohost) Joe Brown. The crew sends him off with the gentlest of ribbings and the occasional mistiness. The main discussion centers around the changes to WhatsApp’s policies regarding user information. Other topics this week include the sale of Pinterest to Instapaper and the bungling (but not bungling) of the Olympics coverage by the NBC/Comcast empire.

Some notes: Read Brian Barrett on the WhatsApp and Facebook privacy changes. Opt out of WhatsApp’s new contact-sharing policy now, before you no longer can. Davey Alba tells us about the sale of Instapaper to Pinterest. Android N is out—it’s very good, but depending on your phone, you may not get it for a while. The epic Bozeman “Tweezer”.
