The world has transitioned from an era when underweight prevalence was more than double that of obesity, to one in which more people are obese than underweight.

Obesity kills thousands of people every month. It is now one of the leading causes of preventable death in the US.  Obesity can cause up to 21 co-morbidities that can make nations bankrupt. The McKinsey Global Institute reported that there are 2.1 billion obese people worldwide and that number is forecast to grow to 50% of the world’s population by 2030.  Obesity related disease yearly expenditures exceeded $2 trillion worldwide in 2015
