Under a log 120 nautical miles from land in Powell Canyon off the coast of New England a huge school of mahi mahi, aka dolphin fish or dorado, have taken up temporary residence along with wahoo, several species of trigger fish and jacks. A large blue marlin about 500 pounds has also found this oasis in the blue desert of the open ocean. The blue marlin makes periodic charges at the school of hundreds of mahi mahi, as they flee in panic. We were lucky enough to see this magnificent wonder of nature both above water from the boat, and beneath the water while filming and photographing the life attracted to the floating log.
