I found myself enamored the moment I met Tristan in the previous book and had hoped to see more of him. The wait was well worth it as he's a true White Knight protective of women with a delectable kink where he likes his passion with a bit of pain. He's an intense man loyal to those he cares about who wants to succeed on his own, hence his continuing to fight in unsanctioned bouts to keep his gym open. He can be intimidating one moment but then show a sweet, shy, and funny side when bantering with Seth and Allegra. He can be a true gentleman too as seen by his opening of doors and commendable behavior when arguing with his hormones. He's all-around delightful and it's an enjoyable and entertaining start to what promises to be a steamy and sensual journey to HEA for him and Zoe.
Zoe's always been the successful sibling, the one with a bright future because of her self-assured nature. She's smart, strong-willed, and more than capable of taking care of herself through her ability to fight using words and actions. Though her brother frustrates and disappoints her she'll still stand up for the family she loves despite the danger to herself. She's ultimately a great match for Tristan when it comes to fighting, loyalty, and by the intensity of their physical joining and I'm looking forward to their combustible connection gaining even more steam as danger pushes them closer together. As their lives become more intertwined while keeping her brother safe, their connection will only deepen and I can't wait for all the twists and turns to come.
While the first collaboration between these authors was well done, this work feels more mature and polished. The balance between the romance and suspense is more equal to keep readers fully entertained. The main characters are immensely likable and on more equal footing to make their relationship richer and I feel more invested in their HEA as I find myself drawn to both Zoe and Tristan. Though I'm a bit frustrated by the popularity of book serialization lately, I found myself completely consumed by this installment and am left greatly anticipating the next book as will other readers too.
The Other Fighter: Uncaged - Part One starts with the introduction of the leading characters. The reader gets a good sense of what they look like, where they are in their lives at the time, and an insight into their personalities. The reader also gets the overall backdrop of the story. They are introduced to the underworld fighting, friendship & family dynamics with the secondary characters, and an idea of where the plot may be heading.
It was a good start but there was not enough for me to become connected to the characters and their story. When I finished this installment I did not feel the burning need to have the next installment in my hands. I do want to continue with this serial because I think it has a premise of being an enjoyable story.
The good thing about The Other Fighter Serial is that each installment is going to be released weekly. The reader will not have to wait weeks and months for the rest of the story.
Tristan " Prince of Pain" Hemsworth is the owner of The Pain Centre. He is a into Cage fighting to make some extra cash, but besides for being a tough, strong guy he is also a good guy and he is tired of the single scene, he is ready to find a woman of his own and settle down.
Zoe Mitchell is just about to graduate from Business school, and she wants to own her own business. She is gorgeous, independent, strong, but still taking care of her brother Delmar and one night after one of Tristan's fights when Zoe arrives to give her brother a ride Tristan sees Zoe and is taken by her beauty and sassy attitude.
The next day when Delmar takes off with Zoe's car she wanders in to The Pain Centre looking for Delmar and runs into Tristan and the sparks fly. Tristan takes the opportunity to talk and eventually asks her out on a date. Tristan is not the only one that is smitten. After a romantic dinner at a Japanese restaurant Tristan and Zoe just cannot get enough of each other and their date gets really hot when Zoe asks Tristan to come in to her apartment. When their Hot, Sizzling date was just starting to set the pages on fire it is interrupted by Delmar again calling Zoe to give him a ride, but Tristan, knows what Delmar is into after doing some investigating into Delmar and what he is mixed up in and Delmar is in some deep trouble.
Tristan drives Zoe to get Delmar and after they pick him up all hell breaks loose. What is going to happen to all of them? Will anybody get hurt because of Delmar? Anxiously awaiting the second part of this three part series. Loved the banter between them as well as the Sizzling Heat.
