Top Gun 2 is totally happening. Tom Cruise confirmed the rumor on a morning talk show in London on Tuesday. His exact words were, ” it’s happening, it’s definitely happening” and, “I’ll be shooting it, probably in the next year.” So, if you feel the need… the need for speed, the long awaited sequel is finally coming your way.

There has been a lot of talk and a lot of hinting around this one. Most of it has been coming from Cruise himself and Jerry Bruckheimer. Deadline accumulated a list of those hints, including Bruckheimer’s visit to the set of Jack Reacher: Never Go Back to discuss plot lines for the sequel, Cruise’s alluding to the possibility on The Graham Norton Show and now, the seemingly spontaneous confirmation.
There are no details on what exactly the plot will be, or who Maverick will be taking on this time. The hope is that now, the flood gates will open and perhaps the details will flow.
