ITHACA, N.Y. – USRowing has announced that Cornell senior
Kate Roach is up for Collegiate Athlete of the Year in its 2014 Fan's Choice Awards. Voting begins today and continues until midnight on Monday, Oct. 20. To vote for the USRowing Collegiate Athlete of the Year,

Roach has gone from walk-on to World Champion in just over two and a half years. She is a two-time CRCA All-American at Cornell and this past summer won a gold medal in the women's eight at the 2014 U23 World Rowing Championships. Last season, Roach set new all-time erg records in both the 2K and 5K for Cornell and rowed in the varsity eight boat that finished fifth at the 2014 Ivy League Women's Rowing Championship.
Roach is running against Samantha Casto (Virginia), Agatha Nowinski (Cal), and Erin Reelick (Princeton).
