Road closures during this weekend’s royal visit

Several roads will be closed around South Bank and Amberley on Saturday when Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visit Queensland.

The following roads will be closed on Saturday, April 19:

  • Grey Street at South Brisbane will closed from 1pm to 5pm between Peel and Glenelg streets.
  • Russell Street and the QPAC Service Lane at South Bank will be closed from 5am to 5pm between Grey Street and the Cultural Centre Tunnel.
  • Southern Amberley Road at Amberley will be closed from 9.30am to 2pm (with restricted access from 7am to 9.30am) between Ipswich-Rosewood Road and the main entrance to the RAAF Base.

Motorists should expect delays near the South Bank precinct as a result of the road closures.

There will be a high police presence in and around the South Bank precinct and the Amberley Air Base during the royal visit. Anyone displaying anti-social behaviour may be removed from the South Bank precinct.

People planning on seeing Their Royal Highnesses should use public transport and attend a dedicated viewing area on Russell Street between Grey Street and the Cultural Forecourt. The public walk is due to commence at 2.50pm.
