The ultimate reptile face-off: Gator vs. Python

Reptile-on-reptile fights are terrifying, just ask the good people of Singapore. Well, get scared again, because we had another one over the weekend at a golf course in Florida between an alligator take on a python. Unfortunately video of the incident doesn’t exist, but judging by this photo of the scene, the alligator looked like to be in the better shape of the two.

Fox4Now did a deeper-dive on the whole thing, talking about the larger non-native python problem in the state:

“Pythons are here, and they’re here to stay,” Worley said. “They’re breeding, and that’s why we’re doing research with several partners to find out their behavior so that we can better manage them.”

Worley said it helps when the native alligators get the upper hand on the invasive snakes.

“Anything that removes one python from the equation – especially if it was a female, for example – is a good thing,” Worley said. “Because females can lay a lot of eggs.”
