Upcoming Events
Speak Up
Show Love

Oct 14, 2017  10am-3pm

Speak Up Show Love is an event designed to give middle and high school students an opportunity to discover and practice ways of showing love and support to those populations that are being discriminated against, as well as ways to be positive messengers of love in a world that is increasingly showing hate.

We are calling our workshop times: Praxis. Praxis is the process by which a theory, lesson, or skill is enacted, embodied, or realized. The Praxis we are offering are: "How to be an Ally", "Taking care of yourself", and "What does it mean to 'Check your Privilege'?".

It is hosted at St. John's Episcopal Church in Royal Oak, MI on Oct 14th from 10am - 3pm. This free event will feature cool music, inspiring speakers, games and Praxis, lunch, and free t-shirts to the first 100 participants.

We also welcome parents and other adults to come and experience the day along side their students.  No pre-registration needed, just come to St. John's (26998 Woodward Ave., Royal Oak, MI) by 10am on Saturday, Oct 14th, and join us for a day of Light, Love and Encouragement.

If you have any questions, please contact Eric Travis, the Missioner for Youth and Young Adults at [email protected] or (313) 833-4418.
Diocesan Convention - Youth & Young Adult

Diocesan Convention is the ultimate organizational decision-making body of the Diocese of Michigan. It is comprised of clergy and lay members who come together for two days in late October to decide the Diocesan budget (based on recommendations from the Budget and Finance Committee of the Diocesan Council), elects members of the diocese's various administrative, executive and judicial bodies and votes on any resolutions.

Here is an opportunity for High School Students and Young Adults to be a part of the Convention. We are looking for High School students and Young Adults who would like to be pages for the Convention. In addition to helping staff the YAYA booth, they will also be available to hand out and collect information to the delegates on the Convention floor, help to lead morning worship and have numerous other chances to interact with the workings of Convention.

The Diocesan Convention for 2017 will be held at Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, MI. The dates are Oct 27-28, 2017.

Happening - A retreat weekend for High School Students

The next Happening weekend for High School Students is November 17-19, 2017. It is being hosted at St. John's Episcopal Church, Midland, MI.

This weekend is open to all young people in grades 9-12.

As you walk in faith, come experience God and community more deeply during this weekend of discovery and reflection. You will engage in real conversations about God and a logical presentation of the elements that define our faith. You will meet new people and hear stories of personal life experiences intended to offer Christ's message and to let you wrestle with faith questions that you may struggle with.

YAYANet Lunch meeting for those who work with Children, Youth and Young Adults

Our first monthly YAYANet meeting of the school year will be on October 5, 2017 from 11am - 1pm at St. Andrew's in Ann Arbor. The address is 306 N Division St, Ann Arbor, MI 48104.

There is a "Bring-Your-Own-Lunch" meeting for anyone who works with Children, Youth or Young Adults.  The purpose of this meeting is to get together and share ideas, network with each other and to spend some time in prayer and support for our ministries.

You don't have to RSVP, but it would be helpful to know who is coming so that we have a large enough room set up. Please email [email protected].

St. Andrew's is located at 306 N. Division, Ann Arbor.  They are bordered by one-way streets. Access the parking lot from Catherine St. and enter the building through the memorial garden gate.  We are meeting in the parish lounge.

We will be having these meetings the first Thursday of each month at a different location. Most will be lunch time meetings, but we will have an evening meeting once a quarter or so.
