killer south african Dad accused of drowning baby in bucket

A Mpumalanga man accused of drowning his two-month-old baby girl in a bucket full of water will apply for bail this week.

Lindokuhle Maloka (20), from Pienaar near Mbombela, was arrested following the baby's death on April 9 this year, a News24 correspondent reported.

He was not asked to plead to a charge of murder when he appeared in the Kanyamazane Magistrate’s Court on April 13.

He was remanded in custody and the case was postponed to April 21 for his bail application.

"According to information, the 18-year-old baby's mother went to visit Maloka at his parental home in Pienaar. At approximately 10:30, she went out of the house for a moment. It was then that the baby was taken to another bedroom where there was a bucked filled with water. The baby was then put in the water and [held down] until she died," provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said.
Mohlala said the baby was left in the bucket.

“When the mother of the baby returned, she went to the room where she had left the baby with her father, but found no one. She then called the father and asked where he and the baby were, but was told that she would find the baby in the bucket.

"The mother made the gruesome discovery together with Maloka’s mother. The matter was reported to the police for investigation and the suspect was nabbed the same day,” Mohlala said.
