Armed robbery, Riverview

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a woman at Riverview this afternoon.

Around 4.40pm a 56-year-old woman was using a public telephone near the corner of Mitchell and Price Streets.

A man rode up to the telephone box on a bicycle before producing a knife and threatening the woman.

He made repeated demands for the woman’s handbag before striking her in the chest with one hand.

The woman handed over her handbag and the man fled on the bicycle.

The woman was not physically injured.

The man is described as Aboriginal in appearance, aged in his early twenties, thin build with a moustache, wearing a black hooded jumper and dark knee-length cargo shorts.
